The Light of the World, The Light of the Life, The Logos of the Deity

The Logos

Jesus Christ is the Logos of the Deity in human form. This Logos, spoken to us by the Messiah, gives us an introduction to the Logic of the Father Deity: His Rationale, His Reasoning, the Way He Thinks: His Logic. It soon becomes apparent that the Logic of the Deity is completely opposite to Human Logic. As we become doers of this Divine Rationale, we prove its efficacy and everything begins to change for us: our thinking, our attitudes, our actions and ultimately our abilities.

Near Death Experiences

"To fear death is nothing other than to think oneself wise when one is not. For it is to think one knows what one does not know. No one knows whether death may not even turn out to be one of the greatest blessings of human beings. And yet people fear it as if they knew for certain it is the greatest evil." — Socrates.
What is a “Near-Death Experience”? The term, now shortened to NDE, was coined in 1975 in the book Life After Life by Dr Raymond Moody and refers to the unforgettable hyper-real experience that some people report, children included, after being resuscitated from death or near death. As well, people in profound grief, have also described experiences that seem NDE like, even though these people were not near death.

The following words has been taken, in the main, from Dr Raymond Moody’s book.
“Near-death experiences (NDEs) can be divided into two types: pleasurable NDEs which involve feelings of love, joy, peace,… and distressing NDEs which involve feelings of terror, horror, anger, isolation, guilt, …. Both types of NDErs report that the experience was more real than the “reality” of earthly life. Nearly all who experience a pleasurable NDE call the experience of the Light, HOME. They further report they no longer have any fear of death, and that the experience has irrevocably changed their lives.”

Pleasurable NDEs.
“The “classic” pleasurable NDE, (sometimes called a heavenly NDE), can have a number of phases that tend to happen in the same order even though each NDE is unique. The phases often overlap, or can even seem to occur at the same time. Any two people describing the same general phase will describe differences between their two experiences.”

“The phase that most often occurs first is an out of body experience (OBE), since they no longer feel associated with their physical bodies or with any particular perspective. They feel detached and peaceful, often with a sense of floating, with complete freedom from pain and complete wellbeing.”

“Next, they usually become aware of their “natural” surroundings—typically recognising their own body and its surrounds—all from a perspective outside their bodies. They usually say things looked and sounded like normal but unusually clear and vivid. They also often say they had unusual abilities, such as being able to see walls and also see through them, and being able to “hear” the unspoken thoughts of the people nearby.”

“In the supernatural phase, the pleasurable NDEr meets beings and environments that they do not consider to be part of the “natural” world. They may meet deceased loved ones or other non-physical entities. They say communication with these beings is “mind to mind” rather than spoken. They say they went to extremely beautiful environments in which objects appeared lit from within. They sometimes say they heard beautiful music unlike any worldly music they’d ever heard. They often say they moved rapidly through a tunnel or void toward a light, and then entered the light, only to discover that the light was actually a being. They say they felt completely known and completely loved by this being. They sometimes say they experienced a “life review”: All at the same time, they re-viewed, re-experienced, and experienced being on the receiving end of, all their actions throughout life. Some pleasurable NDErs say they went beyond the light, seeing cities of light and knowledge.”

“The final phase of the pleasurable NDE is a return to the physical body. About half of pleasurable NDErs say they are given a choice whether or not to return. When they chose to return, it was because of a love connection with one or more living people. The other half say they didn’t choose to return but were told or made to return, or they were just suddenly “back” in their bodies.”

Distressing NDEs.
“People describe distressing NDEs, (sometimes called a hellish NDE) much less often than pleasurable NDEs probably because it is like an F on a report card. The following four types of distressing NDE appear in order from most to least often reported. Distressing NDErs most often describe the powerlessness type as having the same phases as a pleasurable NDE, but they say they felt powerless while this experience was “happening to” them, so they resisted, were afraid, or were angry. In the nothingness type, they say they felt as though they did not exist, or they were completely alone in a total and eternal void. In the torment type, they say they were in ugly or scary landscapes, sometimes with evil beings, annoying noises, frightening creatures, and/or other human spirits in great distress. Only a couple of people have described the worthlessness type in which they felt negatively judged by a Higher Power during a life review.
Some distressing NDErs said that once they “gave up” fighting the distressing NDE and surrendered to it, or once they sincerely asked for help from a loving Higher Power, their distressing NDE became a pleasurable NDE. Only very, very rarely have NDErs said their pleasurable experiences turned into distressing ones.”

What makes NDEs so peculiar is the repeating commonality of phases in the NDEs. Dr Fleischmann in his TED talk (and other researchers - see Researchers submenu), describe these phases according to the interviews they have done with hundreds of patients.

Many scientists have variously discounted such experiences as due to anoxia (lack of oxygen to the brain), other chemical changes in the traumatised brain or hallucinations. However current research has proven this not to be so. The case of Pam Reynolds [(written account 1), (written account 2) & (video)] proves all of these ideas have no validity. The evidence demands that new ways of thinking about the consciousness of man, have to be established as the old reductive materialist approach has no answers. Consciousness, once thought to be part of the brain, is now thought to be outside the body. Some have called this the soul of man.

It is more than interesting that the Bible has much to say about many aspects of Near Death Experiences: about light, love, life, spirit, soul, body, afterlife, heaven, hell and God. Considering what has already been argued on this web site, perhaps it is time to turn to this Book for enlightenment regarding consciousness.

The videos given in the next two submenus are a fascinating view of the world of NDErs. The best videos on YouTube are those in which the NDEr simply tells his/her story without interruption. Interview based videos are disappointing because the NDEr is so often interrupted at a critical point of their conversation. None of the latter type are given on this web site.

Enjoy!
