The Light of the World, The Light of the Life, The Logos of the Deity

The Logos

Jesus Christ is the Logos of the Deity in human form. This Logos, spoken to us by the Messiah, gives us an introduction to the Logic of the Father Deity: His Rationale, His Reasoning, the Way He Thinks: His Logic. It soon becomes apparent that the Logic of the Deity is completely opposite to Human Logic. As we become doers of this Divine Rationale, we prove its efficacy and everything begins to change for us: our thinking, our attitudes, our actions and ultimately our abilities.

The Torah Codes

The key to understanding the significance of these Codes is understanding probability itself and what probabilities strongly suggest to the rational mind. Those who have had no mathematical background may find all this somewhat tedious to follow. Despite this however, the findings must be presented, for they have huge implication for all the peoples of the world.

The Bible Codes, now known as the Torah Codes, are an astonishing discovery in the Hebrew text of the Torah, (the first five books of the Hebrew Bible), brought to academic notice in 1994 by three mathematicians, Doron Witztum, Eliyahu Rips and Yoav Rosenberg. They published their scientific paper, "Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis", in the peer reviewed scientific journal, Statistical Science. Prior to publication, the journal's editor, Dr Robert Kass, subjected the paper to three successive peer reviews by the journal's referees, who according to Kass, were "baffled". Though still skeptical, none of the reviewers had found any flaws in their paper. Finally the paper was presented to the world as a "challenging puzzle”.

In essence, it presented strong statistical evidence that biographical information about distinguished rabbis was encoded in the Hebrew text of the Book of Genesis, centuries before those rabbis lived.

The paper caused an uproar in the academic world at the time as believers and skeptics alike would not accept that such a phenomenon could exist. Many from both sides argued against the codes, and some even wrote papers purporting to show that codes exist in all kinds of other texts. While their findings do show simple “codings” occurring just by chance in many other writings, the Bible Codes are far and away more complex, denying the possibility that they occur just by chance. Such complex codes have NOT yet been found in any other writings.

After the advent of the personal computer and many years of continuing research by many other mathematicians around the world, the Bible Codes have come to be known as the Torah Codes as their investigation now extends beyond Genesis to cover all five books of the Hebrew Torah: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.

The original Statistical Science paper by Witzum et. al. can be downloaded as a pdf file HERE. The paper’s Abstract mentions that the results are statistically significant at the 0.00002 level, i.e. the probability of this happening by chance were calculated to be 1 in 50,000 which is way beyond the accepted level of statistical significance of 1 in 20 used in most scientific experimentation in the world today. In essence this means, it is not a random chance happening and points clearly to an intelligent designer with capabilities beyond normal human experience.

Some less rigorous investigators are trying to use the Codes to predict the future. However, such investigators are strongly criticised by the serious researchers like R. Edwin Sherman, author of The Bible Codes Bombshell. It is his view that the prime purpose of the Codes is to authenticate the Hebrew Bible text as having a Divine source. As to who this Source is, can only be determined by reading the Tanakh, the Old Testament, itself.

This web page does not show how the codes are constructed as there is already mountains of such information available on the internet. An excellent web site which explains the codes well and gives an excellent review of all the arguments for and against is found here. The history on this site eases the reader into the understanding of these codes and how it developed into an experiment which was eventually published in the Statistical Science Journal.
Another good site is found here.
For those not inclined to visit the web sites given above, the following audio and videos will be of help in understanding the Bible Codes phenomenon. The first three videos are presented as an introduction to cryptology (secret writing) generally. One of the videos is of Harold Gans, who, for 28 years, was a Senior Cryptologic Mathematician with the National Security Agency, United States Department for Defence, until his retirement in 1996. The audio file is a radio interview with researcher R. Edwin Sherman and traces his path from deep skepticism to acceptance of the Codes. Following these is a video documentary, TORAH CODES: End to darkness, the producer of which, Richard Shaw, has this to say: There is a code in the TORAH, the first five books of the Old Testament. The Code is real and mathematically provable. Incredibly, the Code seems to have information about what has happened in the past and is happening today. Names, places and events are all encoded. The TORAH is not a crystal ball but new clues seem to indicate that it was meant for our computerised generation to discover its secrets. Since the first introduction of computers in the 70s, a select group of rabbis and professors have been working to “crack the Code”. In this movie, Torah Codes: End To Darkness, we interview them and uncover what they have discovered.
Unfortunately you have to rent or buy this video on Vimeo.com to see the whole documentary but it is well worth it.

Interview with Ed Sherman

Ed Sherman, a mathematician with 30 years of experience, and Dr Nathan Jacobi, an agnostic Israeli physicist, set out to debunk claims that there were mysterious codes in the Hebrew Old Testament. Their investigation changed everything for them. Their astonishing and significant work on Bible Codes can be found on their web site https://biblecodedigest.com. Ed Sherman’s book, Bible Codes Bombshell, is a must read for all those investigating the code phenomena. The article at this web site gives us a little of the struggle Mr Sherman experienced as he wended his way from disbelief to belief. The following interview gives an excellent perspective on these Codes.
